IoT security

IoT security

More things than ever are connected to the Internet. Together with traditional computers and servers this new Internet of Things (IoT) will be the foundation of many critical services and our daily life will depend on its availability and reliable operations. Therefore, among other issues, the challenge of cyber security must be addressed. The lack of a user interface and unattended deployments hinder relying on traditional methods such as initial authentication using a username and a password (which also becomes a weak link in security).

This talk will discuss solutions to overcome these challenges.

Dr. Shahid Raza is the Director of Cybersecurity at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden (formerly SICS) Stockholm where he has been working since 2008. He is also an Associate Professor (Docent) in Uppsala University. Shahid is an Expert Researcher with PhD in IoT security, back in 2013. His research interests include but are not limited to security and privacy in IPv6-connected IoT, interconnection of computing clouds and IoT and PKI for IoT. His work on IoT security is published in top journals and conferences and, only in last two years, he has received over 1300 citations on his IoT security papers.
